What can you expect

Jefferies’ lean deal team structure affords Analysts the opportunity to work closely with senior bankers on pitches and live deals. Senior bankers’ client solutions, advice, and ultimately their success, draws entirely on the integrity of our analyst’s work. Tasks go well beyond performing fundamental analysis and research into companies and markets. You are expected to understand the market implications, identify key industry and product trends and provide key insight. Analysts add value to the team from day one. They are expected to think creatively and pursue their projects with excellence, a collaborative spirit, and with the highest levels of integrity.

Analyst responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Pitching and executing U.S. ECM deals including IPOs, follow-on equity offerings, 144A offerings, block equity trades, convertible offerings, and other equity-related product offerings
• Execution of mandated deals includes structuring, negotiation of legal documents and coordination of distribution
• Assisting with strategic and financial analysis for preparation of pitch documentation and liaising with relevant investment banking and sales and trading teams
• Examining the strategic and financial merits of proposed transactions for marketing purposes
• Ability to manage a range of non-standard and one-off assignments
• Responding to immediate client inquiries and manage ongoing client relationships
• Researching potential targets, markets and sector trends
• Attending client meetings across the U.S. with senior bankers
• Developing and maintaining relationships with other market participants, advisors and the investment community

What we look for in a candidate

We look for candidates who are eager to make an impact by doing real, hands-on work and participate on active deal teams. Successful Jefferies’ Analysts will be able to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills together with strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills. The work is fast paced, intense and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate. You should have a strong academic background and a four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Although a background in accounting or finance is helpful, we hire analysts who have studied a variety of disciplines.

The Jefferies Equity Capital Markets ("ECM") group originates and executes public and private equity offerings, as well as equity-linked financings for our global clients. Our team partners with the firm’s investment banking professionals advising corporations, private companies, and financial sponsors globally on equity issuance and other aspects of the equity markets. ECM professionals are organized by sector, product and region. Our ECM team liaises with sales professionals, traders and research analysts in our global equities group. The interaction between these groups provides us with excellent market intelligence, industry knowledge and execution capabilities.
