What you can expect

Jefferies Interns have the unique opportunity to gain insight into a global, client-focused investment bank and experience an entrepreneurial environment where employees have the opportunity to make an immediate impact and are rewarded for performance. Not only provide you with unparalleled hands-on experience, it will help you develop lasting personal and professional relationships with peers and senior bankers that will serve as the foundation for a successful career.

The Investment Banking Energy Intern will work closely with the team members originating transaction opportunities and implementing mandates. Although the specific duties will depend entirely upon the activities of the other team members, they may include: research into upstream and midstream oil and gas, together with energy transition, opportunities using online databases and news sources; the preparation of marketing materials examining the strategic and financial merits of proposed transactions; creation of market overviews and peer group information using financial analysis tools; assisting senior bankers in deal execution.

Our student and graduate employees are the foundation to our success and are heavily involved in the day-to-day workflow at Jefferies. Our team members work under considerable pressure driving transactions forward and meeting deadlines from clients. The successful candidate should expect to be placed under similar pressure.

What we look for in a candidate

Candidates should be interested in a career in investment banking and will be seeking to use the opportunity to gain experience before deciding whether this is the correct career choice. Candidates should also be numerate (capable of learning how to use spreadsheet models in excel), literate (capable of writing cogent arguments in fault free English) and articulate (capable of expressing information and arguments succinctly). Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint would be an advantage.

If you enjoy working in an entrepreneurial environment where creativity and performance is rewarded, then we invite you to explore opportunities with Jefferies and learn more about our winning team.
