What you can expect:

The successful candidate will be working in the Risk department at Jefferies in London. The Risk department is responsible for providing risk oversight of and analysis for the Firm. Risk works with all areas of the Firm to aid individual businesses and employees to operate within a clearly defined limit framework for products, clients, and operations.

The Risk Management Department is headed by the Chief Risk Officer and organised into six teams: Market & Liquidity RiskCredit Risk and Operational Risk teams work closely with the business units to identify, assess, monitor and manage risk for their respective risk type; The  Risk COO team is responsible for strategic risk project coordination, model validation and risk reporting. The Enterprise Risk team is responsible for developing entity-wide scenario and stress testing.

The role will be a flexible programme that balances extended stays in some of the Risk teams with ad hoc project work across all the teams. This allows the placement interns to experience and develop their skill set across a wide range of areas.

What we look for in a candidate:

  • Graduating in 2025 with a placement year from June 2023 to June 2024
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Self-motivated
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and in an organised manner to meet deadlines
  • Basic understanding of financial markets
  • Manipulation of data in Excel or practical coding experience
