How the program works and what you can expect
Jefferies’ Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program provides Summer Analysts with the unique opportunity to gain valuable experience across an array of investment banking products and industries and to develop lasting personal and professional relationships with peers and senior bankers that will serve as the foundation for a successful career.
Jefferies’ lean deal team structure provides Summer Analysts with a platform to play an important role, working closely with senior bankers on pitches and live deals. In addition to performing fundamental analysis and research into companies and markets, Interns are encouraged to think creatively, offer their input, and add value to the team from day one. As with everyone at Jefferies, Summer Analysts are expected to pursue their projects with excellence, a collaborative spirit, and with the highest levels of integrity.
Summer Analysts will focus on real-life on the job learning, with colleagues serving as both instructors and mentors. Each Summer Analyst will also have the opportunity to review their professional development and receive detailed feedback on their performance over the course of the 10-weeks at Jefferies.
Students in their penultimate year of university with an anticipated graduation date December 2026 - June 2027 may apply for our Summer Analyst Program.
Summer Analyst responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Performing financial valuation, discounted cash flow and multiples-based analyses
- Building and maintaining financial models
- Preparing pitchbooks and live deal materials, such as offering memorandums and prospectuses
- Conducting industry and product research
- Analyzing detailed corporate and financial information
- Participating in the execution of financings and M&A transactions
What we look for in a candidate
Successful Jefferies Summer Analysts will be able to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. They will have an opportunity to work on projects in Southeast Asia as well as greater China. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills together with strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
The work is fast paced, challenging and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate.
You should have a strong academic background on track in obtaining a minimum of a 3.5 GPA or equivalent and be in your penultimate year (completing the second year of a three-year degree, or third year of a four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent program). Although a background in accounting or finance is helpful, we hire Interns who have studied a variety of disciplines. Fluency in English and Japanese is required.

We have helped these clients raise more than US$10 billion through 30+ transactions in the region since 2013 and have executed a number of landmark transactions that are highly recognized by our clients.
