How the program works and what you can expect
The Jefferies’ Equities Sales & Trading Summer Analyst Program provides the cohort with the unique opportunity to gain insight into a global, client-focused investment bank and experience an entrepreneurial environment where employees have the opportunity to make an immediate impact and are rewarded for performance. You’ll be exposed to Jefferies’ full range of products and leading industry expertise. Our lean team structure will not only provide you with unparalleled hands-on experience, but will help you develop lasting personal and professional relationships with peers and senior professionals that will serve as the foundation for a successful career.
In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities, Summer Analysts are encouraged to think creatively, offer their input, and add value to the team from day one. As with everyone at Jefferies, Summer Analysts are expected to pursue their projects with excellence, a collaborative spirit, and with the highest levels of integrity.
Summer Analysts will focus on real-life on the job learning, with colleagues serving as both instructors and mentors. Each of them will also have the opportunity to review their professional development and receive detailed feedback on their performance, during various stages of the program, in addition to at the end of the term.
Students in their penultimate year of university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 - July 2027 may apply to the Summer Analyst Program.
Jefferies Equities Sales & Trading
Our Equities department is a significant provider of liquidity, execution and underwriting expertise. Summer Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate across different divisions of our Sales & Trading platform – including Research Sales, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, Capital Introductions, Electronic Trading and Quantitative Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers and traders to design, test, and refine electronic trading algorithms for APAC equities and derivatives markets.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trading patterns, market microstructure signals, and performance metrics using tools such as Python, R, and SQL.
- Assist in the development of models to optimize execution quality, minimize market impact, and improve trading efficiency.
- Support the automation of trading workflows and contribute to the enhancement of internal analytics tools.
- Work closely with technology teams to ensure seamless integration of quantitative models into the trading infrastructure.
Desired Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Financial Engineering.
- Strong programming skills in Excel, Python, R, or similar languages; familiarity with SQL is a plus.
- Solid understanding of statistics, probability, and data analysis techniques.
- Interest in financial markets, particularly electronic trading and market microstructure in the APAC region.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in an Asian language is a plus.
